『プラダを着た悪魔２』を観てきた｜20年後のアンディとミランダに心動かされた日

循環器専門医として忙しい毎日を送りながら、深夜にアクリルで抽象画を描くのが私の大切な時間です。

先日は久しぶりに映画館へ。観たのは、待望の続編『プラダを着た悪魔２』（原題：The Devil Wears Prada 2）でした。
20年前の『プラダを着た悪魔』公開当時を思い出しながら、スクリーンに釘付けになった2時間は、本当にあっという間でした。
20年前の私と『プラダを着た悪魔』
20年前、初めて『プラダを着た悪魔』を観たときは、アンディの成長物語に胸が熱くなりました。
失敗を繰り返しながらもどんどん輝いていく姿が眩しく、ランウェイのスタッフたちのプロフェッショナルな仕事ぶりに憧れを抱きました。

当時の私は二人の娘の子育て真っ最中。
学童のお迎えからバレエのレッスンへ直行したり、お姉ちゃんのピアノレッスンの待ち時間に下の子とカフェでアイスクリームを食べながら、パソコンでリバイス論文の仕上げをする毎日。
バタバタとした生活の中で、ミランダの厳しい世界で情熱を燃やすスタッフたちの姿に「私も頑張らなきゃ」と励まされたのを覚えています。

20年後の今、ミランダの視点にも共感

今回、続編を観て驚いたのは、ミランダの視点にも深く感情移入できたこと。
非常事態の中で最大のパフォーマンスを発揮し、ピンチをチャンスに変えていく展開は、ドキドキハラハラの連続でした。

ファッションはもちろん圧巻でしたが、特に印象的だったのは、アンディやミランダの自宅リビング、オフィスの壁に飾られたたくさんの絵画。
洗練されたインテリアの中でアートが自然に溶け込み、空間全体を美しく高めている様子がとても素敵でした。

「こんなおしゃれな部屋に、私の抽象画が一枚飾ってもらえたら…」
そんな夢を思い浮かべながら、映画を観ている時間が幸せでした。

私の抽象画が日常のワンシーンになれたら

心の癒しや自然の流れをイメージしたアクリル抽象画は、忙しい毎日に静けさと美しさをもたらしてくれることを目指しています。

Golden Week Movie: The Devil Wears Prada 2 – Moved by Andy and Miranda After 20 Years

Hello, I’m Etoupe Abstracts (Minako Yamaoka-Tojo), a cardiologist and abstract acrylic painter in Tokyo.

During this year’s Golden Week, my family and I went to see The Devil Wears Prada 2, which was released on May 1, 2026. It was a wonderful, fulfilling two hours that flew by in an instant.

Twenty years ago, when the original film came out, I was deeply inspired by Andy’s journey—her growth through failures and successes, the stunning fashion, and the stylish offices and homes. At that time, I was in the midst of raising two young daughters: rushing from after-school care to ballet lessons, eating ice cream with my younger daughter at a café while revising medical papers during my older daughter’s piano lessons. Amid that chaotic daily life, I watched the passionate professionals at Runway with envy and admiration.

Now, two decades later, I found myself empathizing not only with Andy but also deeply with Miranda’s perspective. The story of delivering peak performance under extreme pressure and turning crises into opportunities was thrilling and intense. The fashion was breathtaking, but what struck me most were the numerous beautiful paintings adorning the walls of Andy’s and Miranda’s homes and offices. The way art seamlessly elevated those sophisticated interiors left a strong impression.

As an artist, I couldn’t help dreaming: “How wonderful it would be if one of my paintings could find a place in such a stylish space someday.”

My abstract works, inspired by emotional healing and the gentle flow of nature, my abstract works are created with the aim of bringing peace and beauty to our busy daily lives.
