今夜は心房細動（しんぼうさいどう）について、書いてみたいと思います。

心房細動とは、心臓の上の方にあるお部屋（心房）が、けいれんするように細かく不規則に震えてしまう不整脈の１つです。通常、心臓は規則正しい電気信号でリズミカルに動いていますが、心房細動になるとこの信号が乱れ、心房が1分間に数百回も小刻みに震える状態になります。すると、心臓のポンプ機能が落ち、脈がバラバラになり、動悸・息切れ・疲れやすさなどの症状が出ることがあります。心房細動は加齢だけでなく、高血圧、糖尿病、肥満などの生活習慣病によって発作が起きやすくなります。また、脱水や寝不足、飲酒、喫煙は心房細動のリスクとされています。
症状がなくても怖いのは、心房内に血が滞って血栓ができやすくなり、それが脳の血管を詰まらせて脳梗塞を引き起こすリスクが高い点です。脳梗塞は麻痺や寝たきりの原因となり、突然死を引き起こすこともあります。高齢になるほど患者さんが増える病気ですので、早期発見と適切な治療が大切です。治療法には、脳梗塞や心不全を予防するお薬や、根治を目指すカテーテル治療（カテーテルアブレーション）があります。最近は、家庭用の血圧測定機器に不整脈を知らせてくれる機能がついているものもありますし、スマートウォッチに心房細動の疑いを指摘する機能がついていたりします。
脈が不規則だと感じたら、自己判断せずに、早めに医師に相談してくださいね。
